Why I "HEART" The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is an organization very close to my heart. A close friend of mine lost her father to Leukemia and in the same year had her 6 year old nephew diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma (he just completed his chemotherapy). Can you imagine that? The LLS is trying to make it so we never have to. Through donations, they are researching new treatments and trying to find cures for these and other blood cancers, along with educating people about these cancers and helping aid patients and their families. Even better, your local dollars will be used toward the local chapters!
Some LLS Stats:
- Every 4 minutes someone is diagnosed with a blood cancer.
- Every 10 minutes someone dies from a blood cancer.
- Leukemia is the #1 cancer taking the lives of children and young adults under the age 20.
Really makes you think, right? As parents we naturally feel the need to protect our babies. And as a mother of two beautiful and healthy children, I simply will not stand by and do nothing to try and change those stats.
