DADDY OF THE YEAR!!

This is silly AWESOME!  The stuff my "girl power" dreams are made of.  Mike Mika was upset seeing the frown on his daughter's face when she learned she could only play Donkey Kong as Mario (who saves the Princess) and not as Princess Toadstool who would get to be the hero, so he did something about it!

He hacked the game and made his daughter the hero!!

His Story From YouTube:

My three year old daughter and I play a lot of old games together. Her favorite is Donkey Kong. Two days ago, she asked me if she could play as the girl and save Mario. She's played as Princess Toadstool in Super Mario Bros. 2 and naturally just assumed she could do the same in Donkey Kong. I told her we couldn't in that particular Mario game, she seemed really bummed out by that. So what else am I supposed to do? Now I'm up at midnight hacking the ROM, replacing Mario with Pauline. I'm using the 2010 NES Donkey Kong ROM. I've redrawn Mario's frames and I swapped the palettes in the ROM. I replaced the M at the top with a P for Pauline.

As time consuming as you can imagine it would be to create the code to get this game onto a gender equal playing field, Mike Mika Is Saving you the trouble!  He has made his code available to anyone who wants to make this same change to their Donkey Kong game... keeping in mind you still have the OG version at home. LOL!

So, what do you say, Daddy of the Year??
